Villa Litta Borromeo is a villa of pleasure in Lainate. It means that it is a villa dedicated to relax, pleasure and holidays.
Including the park, it occupies about 3 hectares, within which it is possible to find the villa itself, the courtyard and the Nymphaeum.
The villa was born in the second half of the sixteenth century, then enlarged in the eighteenth century. From the beginning there was also the Nymphaeum, which is a complex of buildings looking on or in the garden in which works of art and various wonders were collected and where there were numerous water games, designed to intrigue, amuse and make jokes to visitors. Unfortunately most of the art works and of the objects that were present were lost during the transfers of property. What have largely remained are the water games and the decorations of the walls. Many parts of the Nymphaeum are built to simulate caves and caverns, which guarantees a high visual impact.
The park, partly public, partly visitable upon payment of the ticket, also includes two large fountains on mythological theme.
The villa, the park and the Nymphaeum be visited for a fee.
