La Torre Branca is a steel tower on the edge of the Sempione Park, near the Palace of the Triennale. With a height of almost 109 meters it is one of the tallest buildings in Milan and in any case it provides the highest viewpoint point available to the public in Milan.
It was built in 1933 in just 68 days of work, designed by Cesare Chiodi and Gio Ponti for the architectural part and by Ettore Ferrari for the calculation of structures. It is built entirely of Dalmine steel pipes, flanged and bolted.
Since 2002 he is again open to visitors, after a major restructuring by the company Branca (hence the current name).
While it is not a work of art in a strict sense, and it is not even particularly old, it is definitely part of the history of the city and it is a fine example of architecture and engineering. It also offers an unique view of the city, particularly of the Sforza Castle, of the Sempione Park, of the Arco della Pace and of the surrounding quarters, among the most elegant and historical of the city.
It is possible to reserve the Branca Tower, bejond the normal opening times to the public , for small and large events, special tours of greater duration, for private parties, special occasions, two toast, cocktails and more. For info and quotes send an email to torrebranca@milanofotografo.it.
The base of the tower is surrounded by the summer part of the location Just Cavalli.
