THE LADIES OF POLLAIOLO: ONE OF THE RENAISSANCE BOTTEGA FIORENTINA
|
07/11/2014 - 16/02/2015:
The exhibition has been designed starting from the famous and fascinating Portrait of a Lady, the symbol of the Museo Poldi Pezzoli. For the first time, will be gathered and compared all the beautiful female portraits painted by the hands of Antonio and Piero del Pollaiolo. The presentation shows some beautiful paintings of medium and small size which will allow you to understand the differences between the pictorial culture of Antonio, characterized by a drawing vigorous and full of energy, and that of Piero, much more precious and rich material, careful the nuances and transparencies. In the light of these comparisons will be possible to return to face the question, long debated, the attribution of the Lady and other portraits of the group. In addition to paintings will be featured sculptures, jewelery and embroidery, demonstrating the breadth and complexity of the interests of the Pollaiuolo brothers.
The exposition is really beautiful and is absolutely worth a visit. Here some pictures taken during a visit, of in particular works you wouldn't expect, considering the title!
