The church of S. Maria di Pediclosso is a small isolated church surrounded by a small group of houses between the Sanctuary of San Giovanni di Andorno and Oretto, fraction of San Paolo Cervo (BI). A short distance the Bele creek which start on the side of the Mazzaro Mountain, at the Bele farmhouse, and flows into the Cervo river below Campiglia. It is considered the oldest church in the Upper Cervo Valley, being built in the eleventh century.
The church building has been much altered, and little or nothing remains still visible of the medieval part. The arcade was made relatively recently (1787), when the church was shortened. An inscription at the entrance says: HOC SACELLUM / IN VALLE SUPERIORI ANDURNI / PRIMUM ERECTUM / RESTAURATUM EXORNATUM / ANNO MDCCLXXXVII. An other now barely legible inscription records a restoration of 1837. According to D. Lebole the small bell tower was built in the years 1823-1824.
Externally the building is very simple and does not differ much from one of the many houses with granite walls typical of the valley. To differentiate it are precisely the arcade and bell tower, already mentioned.
The low interiors include a short single nave and a presbytery proportionately very large, with rustic stone benches on the sides. All internal surfaces are covered with painted plaster. The ceiling in the nave is orange, white in the presbytery. The ceiling of the latter is decorated with a large circular geometric decoration which probably symbolizes the sun.
Above the simple painted stone altar there is, inside a wooden structure, a valuable painting of the late fifteenth or early sixteenth century attributed to Gaspare da Ponderano.
