The Abbey of San Lorenzo di Monluè is a small abbey in the small village of Monluè. This village is very ancient, being founded in 1267. Until the dissolution of the order by St. Carlo Borromeo it was a monastery of the Humiliated of Santa Maria di Brera. Subsequently it became a farm complex. Currently it is located near the East ring road.
The church was built in 1267, modified in 1584 and restored in 1877. The architecture respects the typical layout of a medieval village of the Humiliated. The building is made with bricks and has a massive square tower, marked by frames and arches. Inside, the nave with the sixteenth-century coffered ceiling ends in a rectangular apse borrowed from Cistercian models.
Surely this is not a church impressive and rich as others on this page, however, it is a building of historical and cultural interest and a witness of epochs and ways of life very different from the current ones.
